Myth and Truth
I love when I get to make people say “I never thought of it that way.” — it means I showed them a different that they already knew, but “never thought of.” Additionally, it also means I don’t have to try to change their mind. They’ll likely end up changing their own mind.
Here’s how: Myth & Truth
1). What are some common myths our audience believe? These are common misconceptions you hear and are believed by MANY people. To name a few…
Big agencies are better
People are motivated by success
Education make you smart
2). Almost everything can be turned into a myth because the answer to a lot of question is not simply a “yes” or “no”. It’s usually “it depends.” So the truth is not always the opposite of a myth, it’s somewhere in between.
Here’s how you debunk a myth: pros & cons
Let’s take the first myth of “big agencies are better” for example and come up with a list of pros and cons.
Pros:
They have a bigger and more impressive portfolio of clients
They have a robust process
Bigger learning opportunities
Cons:
You are overworked
There is less flexibility
Everything has to be either approved by the client or some external team
Now you have the myth and the truth. You may think a big agency has a robust process for their campaign, but that means revise, revise, and revise again for it to be approved by either the client or some external team.
